This intriguing production is the brainchild of heritage character actress and tour guide Joanne Crowther, who collaborated with Adrian Slater. Their paths crossed during Joanne's Christmas After Dark tour in Saltaire, where participants stepped into the shoes of Victorian characters. Adrian, initially drawn to the role of Titus Salt Jnr, eventually settled on Gregory, inspired by his own family history and a grandmother who served in London.

The play's script, crafted by Joanne and Adrian over several months, centers around the Royal visit of Princess Beatrice and Prince Henry of Battenberg to Saltaire in 1887. This historic event saw the opening of the School of Art and Science and the Royal Yorkshire Jubilee Exhibition. The royal couple's stay at Milner Field, Titus Salt Jnr's residence, is a pivotal moment in the play, with hand-painted menus and place mats by Catherine Salt on display. However, the production also delves into the tragic final day of Titus Salt Jnr's life, capturing the emotional impact of his untimely death at 44.
